First Term Formula

My name is Stefan Sojka, on Radio 2MR bringing you lesson number 27. The formula for tonight's broadcast is "first term". The date is the 14 August 2000 and I am panelling my own show tonight.

My career goal is to branch out from what I am currently doing, into new and exciting areas. TV, radio, Cable TV and Internet as well as public speaking, are the avenues I am now pursuing. With more hard work here with the academy, and with the experience gained each week, I am certain that I will be able to achieve my goals.

This tape is not pre-recorded. If you weren't aware, you are required to bring your own ear phones, and after week 6, all of your programs should be recorded a week ahead. I have missed one lesson so far. This program was written earlier today, and I have rehearsed it out loud ___ times.

A Supreme Court jury has acquitted art gallery owner Irena Hatfield of the murder of her husband 15 years ago. The jury deliberated for eight hours before delivering the not guilty verdict. Mrs Hatfield was charged after a former lover told police she had confessed to the killing, but as the trial showed, the evidence and character of her former lover was highly questionable and the murder had all the trademarks of a professional hit.

Melbourne scientists have claimed a world first in the quest to develop therapeutic cloning techniques that could be used for the treatment of diseases such as HIV, Alzheimer's and diabetes.
Professor Alan Trounson, deputy director of the Monash Institute of Reproduction and Development, said today that a team of scientists had proven the theory that cells could be grown using a patient's own DNA.
Therapeutic cloning involves the growing of cells in the laboratory and reintroducing them into the body where they have the potential to grow into any type of cell.

The multinational genetic crop company Aventis breached Australian safety recommendations, raising the risk of uncontrolled seed dispersal from a genetically modified canola crop, a Federal regulator has found.
Aventis has dismissed the breaches, involving a trial GM canola crop at Mt Gambier earlier this year, as "minor departures" from recommended practice. The company blamed "difficulties" in the incident on lack of clear and unambiguous regulatory arrangements.

This is just the beginning. You can exchange any file in the same manner. Every book, song, picture, even movie will soon be available for free. What’s going to happen? How will the industries adjust? Can they survive in their present form? How will the A & R guys support their cocaine habits? Well don’t worry… Jesus is coming – he’ll know what to do. He is the truth, the light, and he’s a huge Metallica fan.

It’s hard to describe the joy of loading up pictures of people having sex with vegetables and hoofed animals, dismembered corpses from plane crashes, manifestos of paranoid schizophrenics, devil worshippers and Goths, proud parents home movies of babies soiling their first nappy, web cams of dickheads masturbating, and original songs by eastern European garage bands that sound like an eastern European toilet being flushed. Yes… cable has changed the world… in the words of Bill Gates, the Antichrist – Where do you want to go today? Go To Hell!!
