In an Intimate Atmosphere - Singalong and Enjoy

After many years of successfully playing in bands all across Australia, Stefan moved in a new direction to develop his solo career.

He walked into a bar in Perth one night and saw a guy playing solo at a piano with a drum machine, and noticed how much the people were enjoying the show. Stefan decided that he could do the same thing. Who needs a band when you can do it all on your own? The guy's name was Alfredo, with whom Stefan later became good friends.

Two weeks of rehearsals putting a new repertoire together and Stefan had his first piano bar gig. A restaurant in Fremantle called "Chatterbox".

Within a couple of weeks, Stefan had launched himself into a lucrative and competitive piano bar scene working four to five nights a week in Perth's top venues. His showmanship redefined the standard "play it again, Sam" perception of piano bars, and soon began breaking house records at Perth's number one piano bars, the Windsor Hotel's "Black Pearl" in South Perth, Lombardo's in Fremantle and the Captain Stirling Hotel in Nedlands, among others.

Each week, crowds would line up outside to see Stefan jump on top of the piano, plunge into the crowd, and whip them up into a singalong and dancealong frenzy playing all the classic piano bar tunes, like "Piano Man" and "American Pie" He also surprised the audiences with a few rare gems seldom heard in the piano bars, like Midnight Oil's "Power and the Passion", Led Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaven" and David Bowie's "Space Oddity" among others.

Stefan still plays piano bars from time to time around Sydney, and also uses his experience in this field in every other gig he plays - from Pub Rock gigs to Weddings to Corporate Functions and Special Events.
